I'm a big fan of New Year's resolutions. "New Year's resolutions" are yearly goals that you set for yourself at the beginning of a new year. They usually have to do with fitness, saving money, education, etc.
People often make New Year's resoltions at the beginning of the year but don't end up keeping them.

Problem, trouble, and issue

What's the difference between "problem", "trouble", and "issue"?

The words "problem", "trouble", and "issue" are very close in meaning. What's the difference bewtween them? The answer is quite complicated, actually! Let's look at the meaning of each word and some of the ways that they're used:  

Pick up a habit

  Year Of English   "Setting resolutions is great, but what’s even better is picking up habits."

In Western cultures, it’s customary to set New Year’s Resolutions. A New Year’s Resolution is a goal that you set for yourself to achieve during that year.
Setting resolutions is great, but what’s even better is picking up habits.

Snowing and Winter Weather

The snowplow will come out and start plowing the street during a snowstorm.
When it is very cold, we talk about Jack Frost and Old Man Winter. We say things like:
  • Jack Frost is outside. Old Man winter came for a visit.
