Kemerovo State University was founded in 1974. At present it is a leading institution of higher education in Kuzbass and one of the largest institutions in Siberia. It is dynamically developing, having a distributed network of branches, providing training specialists and carrying out scientific research in a wide range of lines.  Нead Kemerovo State University includes 12 faculties training highly qualified specialists for educational systems of all levels.

BIOLOGICAL FACULTY

The Faculty is located in Building № 2. The Dean's Office is in Room 339.

The Faculty provides training on the specialities:
020201.65 (011600) - BIOLOGY, giving the qualification "Biologist". Specializations:
  • Human and Animal Physiology;
  • Zoology;
  • Botany;
  • Cellular Biology.
  • Supplementary qualification - "Lecturer".
  • 050103.65 (032500) - GEOGRAPHY, giving the qualification "Teacher of Geography".
Material and technical basis of the Faculty:
  • 30 specialized university laboratories;
  • Computer classroom with Internet access;
  • Scientific educational laboratory "Zoological Collection".
  • Scientific Herbarium;
  • Vivarium;
  • Biostation (Azhendarovo);
  • Joint Scientific Laboratory of the KemSU and the Kuzbass Botanical Gardens of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.                        
Field of activities of graduates from the Faculty:

The Faculty provides training specialists in different lines of biology: physiology, biochemistry, genetics, botany, zoology, ecology, etc.

The level of training specialists allows them working at:
  • Institutions of general, special and higher education;
  • Scientific research organizations;
  • Bodies of nature protection and environmental management;
  • Bodies of educational management;
  • Sanitation-and-epidemiological organizations;
  • Medical institutions, etc.
The teaching staff of the Faculty is highly qualified (persons):
  • 1 Academican, 5 Corresponding Members,
  • 10 Doctors of Science, 10 Professors,
  • 30 Candidates of Science, 20 Senior Lecturers.
General disciplines, provided at the Faculty: Humanitarian and socio-economic, general mathematical and natural-science, general professional, and disciplines of specializations.

609 students study at the full-time, part-time and correspondence courses.
Among them:

381 full-time students - on the specialities BIOLOGY and GEOGRAPHY.
178 full-time students - on the speciality BIOLOGY.
50 correspondence students - on the speciality GEOGRAPHY.
556 persons study on the budget basis,
53 persons study on the contract basis.

Major lines of scientific activities of the Faculty:

Major lines of scientific research activities of the Biological Faculty correspond to the line of training specialists in biology and are applied to the academic process (academic disciplines of specializations, educational field and industrial studies, term and degree works).
