An acronym is a word that's made up of the first letters of other words (usually). English speakers use acronyms a lot. You'll read and hear them everywhere – on the Internet, in business, in the government.

How to arrange an appointment with someone

Letter:
A letter should always include:
1. Your address, phone number, email and date (on the top right corner)
2. The recipients name and address (underneath your details, on the left)
3. To whom it may concern or Dear Mr./Mrs. Smith or Dear Sir/Madam
4. Reason for writing the letter: I am writing to arrange an appointment with you in the upcoming week.
5. Explain reason for the appointment: The purpose of the appointment is to discuss the promotion in the Sales department, I would like to be considered for this promotion.
6. Ask them to contact you whenever it is convenient for them: If you are interested in discussing the promotion further with me, please

1. Less is more - this maxim can refer to several areas of writing.
  • don't make your sentences too long (or too short - get a balance), long sentences give more room for mistakes if they are going on to 3 lines check them carefully!

Today business communication gains more popularity, becoming gradually more informal as the Internet along with electronic media becomes an important aspect in business contacts. Although it is no longer a surprise to receive an electronic business message from an unknown person but addressed to you by your first name, in business, writing letters is still very important and thus a person needs to know the basic rules of writing a formal business letter.
