Contrast of Short [i] and Long [i:]

In the last two days, you’ve practiced the Short I and Long E sounds individually. Now, you’re ready to tackle them both together. This lesson will help you stop pronouncing “it is my first visit” like “eat ease my first veezeet.” You can do it!
Lesson Goal:
In this lesson, let’s practice Long [i:] vs. Short [i]: beat-bit.
Let’s practice some words that contrast these sounds.
1.     beat - bit, feet - fit, greet - grit, meat-mitt
2.     bean - bin, keen - kin, seen - sin, teen - tin
3.     meek - Mick, peak - pick, teak - tick, weak – wick
Let’s practice some sentences that have words using these sounds.
1.     Teen Mick keeps car kits.
2.     Eat grits to feel fit.
3.     Green tins beat weak bins.
