Madonna-Masterpiece Lyric

If you were the Mona Lisa
You'd be hanging in the Louvre
Everyone would come to see you
You'd be impossible to move
It seems to me is what you are
A rare and priceless work of art

A linguistic view of the world

PROFESSOR:

People possess the same physical organs for sensing the world: we have eyes for seeing, ears for hearing, noses for smelling. But does everyone really sense the world in exactly the same way? Two linguists, Edward Sapir and Benjamin Whorf, didn't think so. Sapir and Whorf believed that people's perception of the world depends very much on the language they speak. It's called the Sapir Whorf hypothesis.

The art of communication

NEW AGER:
The art of effective communication doesn't begin with talking, it begins with listening. How often, during a conversation, have you realized that the person you're talking to isn't really listening to what you say, but instead just waiting for you to stop talking, so that they can start talking? Do you know what I'm talking about? They don't make much eye contact, they fidget, their body language is cold and uninterested in fact it seems they've got something else on their mind. You see, listening isn't just something you do with your ears it's something you do with your mind, your body and your soul.

Bounce Back

Bounce Back   If someone is able to “bounce back” from a situation it means that they overcame  or recovered from some kind of negative situation.

Communication and gender

NEW AGER:
Have you ever seen one of those nature shows where you see males fighting in order to gain the upper hand or more simply gain a mate? , and where the female of the species is looking after the young? While many would acknowledge that every person is different, some suggest that this basic pattern seems to carry over into the human species. Men would compete against each other to win the women, and compete against nature to win their dinner. For men, winning meant staying alive.
