Bounce Back If someone is able to “bounce back” from a situation it means that they overcame or recovered from some kind of negative situation.
In life, not everything goes perfectly. When something bad or unfortunate happens to you, you need to find a way to be strong and recover from it. You need to accept the situation and get back to your old life. You need to get back your positive attitude. This is bouncing back.
Here are a couple examples:
“Kevin’s girlfriend broke up with him because she was cheating with a new guy. Kevin was incredibly hurt for a couple weeks after he found out. After he heard what she did to him, he spent 2 weeks staying home, feeling sad, and eating ice cream. I just spoke with Kevin last night and he sounded a lot better. I think he’s finally starting to bounce back”
“My favourite soccer team lost both of their last 2 games. They’ve been playing really badly lately. I hope they’ll be able to forget about those losses and bounce back”
“She had a high fever and a terrible cold last week. She told the doctor she couldn’t get out of bed. I just talked to her on the phone a few minutes ago. She’s got more energy in her voice and is slowly starting to bounce back. I think she’ll be back to the office in a couple of days”
So, “bouncing back” is basically recovering and getting back to your normal self.
